The Instructional Designer is responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to design, develop, and enhance high-quality instructional content for in-person, hybrid, and fully online courses. This role supports best practices in pedagogy, accessibility, and instructional technology to promote student success and ensure compliance with accreditation and Quality Matters (QM) standards.
- Partner with faculty to design and revise engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
- Provide instructional design expertise for course development in the college’s Learning Management System (LMS)
- Guide the integration of Open Educational Resources (OER), multimedia, and technology tools into course design.
- Ensure course accessibility and ADA compliance using tools like the Brickfield Accessibility Toolkit, Ally, or other relevant platforms.
- Conduct training, workshops, and one on one consultations on instructional design, online teaching strategies, and educational technologies.
- Support faculty in aligning learning objectives, assessments, and instructional materials with institutional and programmatic goals.
- Assist with the implementation of course quality assurance processes, including peer review and course evaluations.
- Stay current with trends and best practices in instructional design, adult learning, distance education, and emerging technology.
- Provide Technical Support to Faculty and Staff with the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- 6 months experience with a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Knowledge of instructional design models
- Familiarity with accessibility standards Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or supporting instruction at a community college.
- Experience designing or supporting online or hybrid courses in higher education.
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting courses in the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Experience with Quality Matters (QM) standards and course reviews.
- Knowledge of copyright/fair use and Open Educational Resources (OER)
- Proficiency with media design tools (e.g., Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud, Articulate).
