Assistant Pastor (full time)
Forest Hills Baptist Church in Burgaw, North Carolina, is seeking a faithful Assistant Pastor who is passionate about making disciples and investing in the next generation.
Key Responsibilities Preaching and Teaching- Weekly Sunday School teaching for adults
- Sunday morning main worship preaching (7-10 times a year)
- Regularly available to counsel families
- Equip and train children and youth group leadership team members
- Disciple and support parents with school age children
- In conjunction with the Lead Pastor, providing general oversight and vision for the spiritual health and direction of the church
- Eager to support the Lead Pastor's vision and ministry plan
- Partner with Lead Pastor to provide counseling to individuals/families
- Regularly exercise the ministry of presence in all facets of church life
- Participate in annual budget planning with Stewardship Team
- Work with Lead Pastor and staff to review and revise annual ministry plan
- Attending weekly staff meeting and monthly Deacons' Meeting
- Regularly meeting with Lead Pastor for discipleship and accountability
- Develop and lead outreach efforts that intentionally connect our church with the surrounding community.
- Must possess a genuine profession of faith and clear testimony of salvation
- Called to and gifted for pastoral ministry according to I Tim. 3:1-7;
Titus 1:6-9 - An evangelist's heart, passionate to share the hope of the Gospel with the lost
- Able to clearly teach and communicate God's Word to all ages and demographics, particularly to younger children and youth
- Utilizes an exegetical approach to sermon prep and delivery
- Not shy and willing to be a self-starter that engages with our local schools and sports leagues
- Self-disciplined, motivated character with a servant's heart
- Holds firmly to core Christian doctrines and convictions, but humble and gracious towards others
- Teachable, flexible, and willing to submit to the leadership of the Lead Pastor
- Fully in alignment with the BFM 2000
- In agreement with a complementarian view of pastoral ministry
- If married, absolutely committed to wife (and children)
- Actively guards moral purity and has no abiding struggle with viewing pornographic or other illicit materials
- Able to complete and pass a nationally accredited background check
While compensation will vary depending on education, prior experience, and other relevant qualifications, the general salary package will be approximately $70,000 annually.
