Job DescriptionPosition Title: EC Resource Teacher
Reports To: Principal
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by supervisor on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the position
FLSA Status: Exempt
Education, Training and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in a position‑related area is required.
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina Teacher Licensure.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders (e.g. students, parents, colleagues, etc.) to establish and maintain leadership and positive relationships while focusing on high expectations and continuous improvement for student learning.
- Design instruction (e.g. lesson plans; individualized instruction; diverse learning styles/needs, etc.) to ensure all students are engaged and participating in individual and classroom learning objectives.
- Develop and guide learning in partnership with students (e.g. classroom mission and learning goals; strategies and processes; student recognition and celebrations, etc.) to ensure continuous improvement for student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
- Evaluate individual student and class performance (e.g. analyze assessment data; other comparative data, etc.) to gauge and subsequently adjust instruction to improve individual and class performance.
- Implement current best‑practice instruction and resources (e.g. focus on student needs/goals, classroom priorities, etc.) to improve and enhance student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
- Maintain documentation and required reports (e.g. student data and reports; personal teaching certification, etc.) to comply with site, district, policy, administrative, state, and/or federal statutes and regulations.
- Manage classroom structure and procedures (e.g. activities; behavioral expectations; positive classroom culture, etc.) to establish a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment that supports students in achieving classroom and individual goals.
- Model positive behaviors (e.g. professional/ethical public image; relational skills, including appropriate verbal and written communications; manners; honoring diversity and mutual respect, etc.) to promote appropriate social and interpersonal behavior in alignment with district goals.
- Oversee assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers to ensure the operation of an effective and efficient classroom structure that supports the teacher and students in achieving classroom and individual goals.
- Participate in a variety of meetings (e.g. team and/or building meetings; professional growth opportunities; parent/teacher conferences, etc.) to convey and/or gather information to perform functions.
- Respond to emergency situations (e.g. building emergency protocol; fights, suspected child abuse and/or substance abuse, etc.) to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, write, operate a computer, hand‑held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
