Location: AhoskieResponsible for working with Deans, Vice Presidents, and faculty members to plan and develop modalities for distance learning classes. Distance learning includes online, hybrid, blended, and hyflex classes as well as classes using video conferencing and other distanced technologies. Trains faculty and students on the college LMS. Coordinates distance learning initiatives and markets them. Serves as primary LMS administrator and support person for students needing assistance with Distance Learning (DL) classes and technologies.
Organizes and directs DL orientations. Assists Learning Resources Center (LRC) staff with technology and training. Is responsible for adherence to policies, procedures, documentation, and all related instructional requirements.
Performs a variety of duties related to institutional service such as collaborating with other institutions when appropriate; serving on committees; attending staff, division, and College functions, faculty workshops, the LRC advisory committee, and professional meeting and seminars.Coordinates distance learning activities and course quality components in conjunction with the Academic and Workforce Deans.Manages and maintains DL guidelines relating to State, Federal, NC-SARA, and SACSCOC regulations.Develops and provides instructional training, materials, and orientations on relevant LMS and distance learning topics for faculty, staff and students using a variety of technologies (365, Teams, Zoom, Canva, etc.Stays informed about and communicates relevant external professional development offerings related to distance learning.Develops, promotes/markets and manages the delivery of DL instructional programs.Reviews online courses developed by faculty for appropriate content, activities, and assessments.Coordinates the development, review, and approval of all DL courses.Monitors and audits courses for student and faculty engagement as needed.Develops and maintains the DL web pages.Provides academic and distance learning related support to DL students.Manages video conferencing, student email and other platforms.Develops and manages DL learning analytics and other statistical information relating to distance learning offerings and student success to assist with decision making.Showcases technology to R-CCC community and local area as needed.Lists online courses in the North Carolina Community College online course search web site.Collaborates with the Learning Resources Center to manage the Center for Technology and InnovationManage the use of AI and Integration in to DL as a resource for Students, Faculty and StaffSupervises the Distance Learning Coordinator.Perform other duties assigned by the Associate Vice President of Academics and Institutional Effectiveness and the President.Master’s degree in education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.Teaching experience in distance learning technologyExperience with Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, or other learning management system.- Two years of demonstrated increase in level of responsibility for academic and instructional programs in an administrative capacity.
- Two years of instructional experience using distanced modalities.
- Experience in applying accessibility principles and standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) to course content.
- Experience in curriculum and/or strategic planning.
- Experience with ad-hoc reporting platform/s – Informer 4 or 5
