TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 10 Months

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • North Carolina Professional Educator's License in the area of Manufacturing (Area 74090) or Metals Manufacturing (Area 74065).
  • Interested individuals without this license but with a Bachelor's or Associate degree in a related area (or a High School Diploma/GED) should visit the following link for more information regarding the alternative licensure process:

    Qualifying for a CTE Provisional License in Manufacturing
    • Two years of related work experience required for those with a Bachelor's degree.
    • Four years of related work experience required for those with an Associate's degree.
    • Six years of related work experience required for those with a High School Diploma/GED.

POSITION SUMMARY :

The educator will prepare students for high-demand careers in modern industry through hands‑on instruction in automated systems, robotics, and precision production. This role is critical in developing local workforce pipelines for manufacturing employers and shipyards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well‑being of students, particularly when the student is participating in an inclusive activity.
  • Ability to motivate students and to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Ability to perform general clerical duties, including operating common office machines and maintaining basic files and records.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of technology in the classroom.
  • Ability to create and follow rigorous lesson plans that correlate with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study .

  • CTE-Specific Responsibilities
    • Instructional Delivery :
      Deliver North Carolina CTE standards for Advanced Manufacturing I (IL38) and Advanced Manufacturing II (IL39).
    • Technical Training :
      Provide rigorous instruction in CNC mill operations, robotics, mechatronics, and industrial automation.
    • Lab Management & Safety :
      Maintain a state‑of‑the‑art laboratory environment, enforcing strict OSHA safety guidelines and ensuring the proper maintenance of advanced manufacturing equipment.
    • Student Leadership :
      Serve as the advisor for the district’s SkillsUSA chapter, coaching students for regional, state, and national technical competitions.
    • Workforce Development :
      Collaborate with local Martin County contractors and manufacturers to establish student apprenticeships and career pipelines.
    • Assessment Administration :
      Administer CTE State Assessments and industry‑recognized credentials to ensure students demonstrate mastery of course standards.
  • Instructional Process
    • Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the district's philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study .
    • Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategiesand maximize time on task.
