Position Summary::

The Assistant Director of ACA & Transfer Success reports to the Dean of General Education and Transfer and serves as the primary person responsible for all Discipline Chair responsibilities for ACA-prefix courses across the College, as well as for providing administrative and programming leadership for transfer agreements, opportunities, employee trainings, and resources across the College.

The Assistant Director directly supervises all ACA faculty and part-time transfer staff. The Assistant Director will serve as the Discipline Chair over ACA-prefix courses and serves as the primary representative of their respective content area. They are responsible for direct supervision of lead, full-time and part-time faculty in their respective area.

The Assistant Director will oversee and lead the implementation of the new transfer intent tagging process through ACA 122 courses and will support college partners with the new process. They will help maintain and improve the transfer intent tagging process over time in order to best serve transfer students. They are responsible for scheduling courses in collaboration with Program Chairs across the college to serve various programmatic and student needs.

The Assistant Director will ensure that Transfer and Technical Programs across the college are served by ACA courses, and they are responsible for hiring, credentialing, and staffing all ACA faculty. The Assistant Director is responsible for training all ACA faculty and college transfer staff on a continuous basis to ensure that faculty and staff are up-to-date on the most recent transfer and career content.

The Assistant Director will complete faculty observations and evaluations per College policy and procedure. The Assistant Director is responsible for the expansion of ACA courses across the College as advised by the Dean of General Education & Transfer and the Academic Vice President.

The Assistant Director will also take a lead role in implementing the Faculty Mentoring program as directed by the Dean of General Education & Transfer. Faculty Mentor responsibilities may include, but may not be limited to, the following: conducting regular reviews of assignments, collaborating with the Registrar to ensure that assignments are updated, creating an updated guidebook, providing training to new faculty mentors, and by entering assignments into Banner as needed.

In the Transfer Success capacity, the Assistant Director is expected to be actively involved with the college’s university partners, as well as with the college’s local high school career and college promise programs. They are expected to serve as one of the primary sources of transfer information and training for the College and its employees, in collaboration with the Dean of General Education & Transfer.

They are expected to have strong knowledge of the NC Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, Transfer Guides, Uniform Articulation Agreements, local/state bilateral articulation, and be familiar with guaranteed and co-admission programs. They are expected to be knowledgeable of public and independent four-year institutions across the state. With this knowledge they will help keep agreements current and relevant and provide resources and opportunities for students and employees pertaining to transfer success topics.

The Assistant Director is responsible for transfer programming that may include, but may not be limited to, the University Mentoring Program, ongoing transfer training for employees, organizing program-specific transfer events, supporting transfer fairs as needed in collaboration with Student Services, and serving as the primary person responsible Guaranteed Admissions Programs (GAP) that the College participates in, including but not limited to: overseeing the GAP programs, connecting participating students with advisors and faculty mentors, and completing verification processes.

The Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining current transfer data from the UNC System and NCICU institutions on all College web and print locations, and for providing ongoing training to employees working with transfer students.

Required Education/

Experience::
  • The candidate must hold a graduate degree from a recognized accredited institution, must be supportive of the community college mission, and will be enthusiastic about college transfer.
Preferred Education/Experience/

Skills::
  • The ideal candidate would be familiar with all transfer programs in the North Carolina Community College System, including CAA (policy level), uniform, and bilateral. They would be familiar with ACA-prefix courses, especially ACA 122, and would have experience teaching at the community college level.
