Position Type:
Part Time Salary Range: $23.00 - $25.00 Hourly Job Shift: Afternoon The Tutor is responsible for leading a group of up to 14 middle and high school children in an interactive positive incentive atmosphere at the Davie YMCA. The Tutor will also provide 1:1 academic help as needed. Candidate must be certified teacher in reading, math, ELA, and science. The ideal candidate must be flexible, reliable, and a good role model and will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the children.

Enthusiastic personality with a love fore working with teens a plus! Schedule is Tuesday, Thursday 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on school days.

Essential job functions include:
  • Tutoring will focus on targeted areas of student weakness identified by support circle.
  • Tutors will assist in planning and oversight of enrichment activities for students.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with students; helps them connect with academic material, each other and the YMCA.
  • Engages students in standard based review, provides academic support, assessment and intervention.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures and uniform policy.
  • Ensures that the curriculum is followed, materials are organized and that all supplies are put away daily. Reports damaged equipment.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • NC Teaching Certification
  • Bachelors Degree (BA / BS) from a four-year college or university and one to two years related experience or training
  • Experience working with children and a diverse community
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred but training may be provided
