Position Information

The Workforce Development & Continuing Education Division seeks a knowledgeable and experienced HVAC professional to serve as an adjunct instructor. This position involves delivering high‑quality instruction in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) to students enrolled in non‑credit and Career and College Promise (CCP) programs. The instructor will prepare students for entry‑level employment and industry‑recognized credentials.

Full Time or Part Time – Part Time.

Salary $35/hr.

• Deliver engaging and effective instruction in HVAC fundamentals, safety, system diagnostics, repair, and installation.
• Teach both classroom and hands‑on lab sessions, ensuring alignment with industry standards and program objectives.
• Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and assessments as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
• Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for a diverse student population.
• Ensure compliance with all institutional policies and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with WD&CE staff to support student success and program development.

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the HVAC industry.
• EPA Section 608 Certification.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Commitment to student learning and workforce readiness.

• Prior teaching or training experience in a classroom or industry setting.
• North Carolina HVAC license.
• Experience working with high school & adult learning students.

Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required. Essential functions of this position require lifting and manual dexterity, ability to communicate, and routine walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, stooping, turning, twisting, balancing, reaching, or handling. Medium work includes exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.

Mental demands include utilizing memory for details, following verbal instructions, maintaining emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem‑solving skills.

Salary Grade

Salary $35/hour.
