Restitution Program Activity Assistant

The Restitution Program Activity Assistant works with the Brunswick County branch of the North Carolina State Cooperative Extension. This position will work with juveniles ages seven (7) to twenty-one (21) that have been ordered to pay restitution and/or to complete community service hours to accomplish the program's measurable objectives. The Restitution Program Activities Assistant will work with volunteers in planning assignments and tasks that are to be done in the botanical garden and the restitution grounds.

This position will be required to keep records, file, and documentation to ensure accuracy of participants progress in the program, including the NC Allies System - updating charts and records. The Restitution Program Activities Assistant will be required to work on & off-site as needed. This position attends Teen Court once a month at 5:00pm until court is completed. Performs other duties as required.

This is a part-time position, about 10-12 hours per week.

High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of six months of experience working with youth and/or youth programs; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Law enforcement background preferred
• Horticulture/landscaping experience preferred

Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment and machinery tools such as shovels, electrical tools, mowers, and rakes. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to stoop, climb, crawl, bend and stand for periods of time.
