Make a meaningful impact as a special education teacher supporting elementary and middle school students in a dynamic contract role. In the elementary setting, youll guide a small group of six students, all with mild behavioral needs and requiring some toileting assistance. Classroom support is robust, including both a dedicated teaching assistant and a behavior technician. The middle school classroom, based on a co-teaching model, has a caseload of eleven students, including one student with a feeding tube. The classroom team consists of three full-time teaching assistants as well as 1:1 support for specific students and an additional co-teacher, ensuring you can focus on each students individual needs.
Desired Background and
Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students in a special education setting
- Ability to provide toileting assistance in a respectful, professional manner
- Comfortable communicating with team members, students, and families
- Familiarity with a collaborative, inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Compassion and commitment to fostering growth in students with mild behavioral needs
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Use evidence-based practices to meet learning goals and behavioral objectives
- Partner closely with teaching assistants, behavior technicians, and co-teachers
- Maintain accurate records and reporting
- Support daily living activities, including toileting and care for students with medical needs
