Job purpose

The Borg Warner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

This position will be responsible for the development of programs and processes with respect to health, safety, and environmental policy development, training, and organization development.

Key responsibilities

Develops programs and procedures designed to reduce occupational and non-occupational accident/injury/illness experiences.

Promotes health and safety awareness throughout the organization though effective employee communications, participation, and programming.

Ensures compliance of all programs meets or exceeds OSHA and EPA standards.

Ensures plant management teams understand the inter-relationship between on-and-off-the-job safety, occupational and non-occupational health, workers compensation, and medical costs.

Develops and recommends formal programs and policies that promote a safe work environment.

Educates the management team in ergonomic concepts, assess the need for workplace ergonomics, and ensure an effective and participatory ergonomic culture is developed, maintained, and practiced. Identifies, evaluates, manages, and minimizes all environmental risks for the business.

Ensures environmental compliance understood and accepted as a high priority by the management teams.

Develops and integrates waste management, minimization, and recycling into all levels of the product development and production processes.

Establishes a formal plant safety organization, which will permit a high degree of employee involvement on safety teams, inspection teams, and other aspects of the program.

Develops comprehensive wellness programs tailored to the specific needs of the plant population as identified through health care cost analysis.
