Position Summary

The primary location of this position is on-site in Cullowhee, NC.

The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at Western Carolina University (WCU) is growing! The University has received substantial support from the North Carolina legislature to expand engineering to meet the rapidly growing needs of the region and state. Our construction management, engineering, and engineering technology programs feature project‑based learning embedded throughout the curricula, preparing our students for professional practice and advanced study.

Job Responsibilities
  • Works as initial enrollment advisor for all CET students (first year, transfer, and re‑entering students).
  • Serves as primary advisor for students with 0‑45 completed hours within the College of Engineering and technology.
  • Continues as support advisor through graduation for all students.
  • Provides developmental academic advising to undeclared students.
  • Maintains appropriate advising records and documentation.
  • Represents the College of Engineering and Technology at recruitment events.
  • Provides transfer advising information and support for CET transfer students with transcript evaluations.
  • Assists with questions regarding specific transferability of courses and programs.
  • Participates in NC Community College outreach events promoting our WCU CET programs.
  • Assists with the development, revision, and updating of CET advising processes, forms, and publications regarding student needs.
  • Works in collaboration with all staff within the CET College and WCU Advising Center.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the needs of students and the College of Engineering and Technology.
