Operations Manager, Program / Project Manager
We are seeking a Manager for our Advanced Processing Department within the Technology & Innovation Function. This role involves leading a team of highly skilled professionals, including Scientists, Chemists, Chemical Engineers, and Laboratory Technicians. You will oversee and drive research projects across various stages of technological maturity, focusing on process innovation and efficiency enhancements. Additionally, you will manage our Advanced Processing Laboratory including leaching and hot chlorination research infrastructure, ensuring optimal operation and effectiveness.
Further responsibilities include making informed decisions regarding technology design, laboratory and pilot equipment selection, and pilot technology implementation. Collaborating cross-functionally to define project objectives and ensure successful project completion.
Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day resources, equipment, and manpower to achieve the best practical throughput of testwork and ensure valid, accurate results are produced in line with the laboratory handbook.
- Ensure adherence to the Safety standards and housekeeping 5S procedures
- Drive innovation and improvements in advanced processing techniques and technologies.
- Develop, test, and optimize advanced processing methods to enhance efficiency, yield, and product quality.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of R&D projects, ensuring they are completed within scope, timeline, and budget.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure seamless integration and implementation of advanced processing solutions.
- Make informed decisions on process design, equipment selection, and technology implementation based on thorough technical and economic analyses.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team focused on advanced processing research and development.
- Manage process simulations, mass balance calculations, and audits to improve existing operations and support new developments.
- Motivate and evaluate the team members to enhance team collaboration and support their individual development and growth.
- Liaise with HR and internal Sibelco customers to coordinate staff welfare, team working and legislative issues.
- Hire new people as needed
- Set up a planning (middle and long term), by prioritizing workload and organizing resources to maintain an efficient, cost effective and organized departments.
- Instruct staff on upcoming deadlines and changing priorities
- Liaise with internal customers and technical services team to achieve workable expectations
- Create work assignments and schedule, and reviews work in progress
- Manage all Mineral processing projects through all the stages of development and ensure all projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Collaborate with various other functions e.g. Commercial, Operations, Engineering etc.
- Assist and advise other departments
- Support all T&I labs in the development of new analytical methods for quality control
- Operations and Engineering, when implementing new processes
- Commercial, feedback on the execution of NPD and TSSR activities
