We operate as a concise, highly technical team composed of engineers, machinists, project managers, and engineering technicians executing hands-on R&D from concept through prototype fabrication and controlled testing.
Our engineers work with significant autonomy and are expected to manage projects from design through validation in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
Role OverviewWe are seeking a senior-level Mechanical Design & Test Engineer who can operate independently within a concise R&D team. This role is best suited for an engineer comfortable owning projects, making technical decisions, and working directly in design, machining, and testing environments.
This is a fully on-site position in Youngsville, NC (Raleigh area).
No remote opportunities. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities- Lead mechanical design and development for R&D programs
- Own projects from concept through testing and refinement
- Create CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation
- Plan and execute prototype builds and test activities
- Analyze test data and drive design decisions
- Work directly with machinists and technicians during fabrication
- Identify technical risks and propose solutions
- Maintain organized engineering and test documentation
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5–10+ years mechanical design and development experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Strong practical engineering judgment
- Comfortable in hands-on shop and test environments
- Extensive firearms industry experience OR significant independent technical involvement with firearms systems
- U.S. person required due to nature of work
- Familiarity with ITAR/export-controlled environments
- Defense or aerospace R&D experience
- Precision machining and tolerancing
- Materials and durability testing
- Experience in concise, self-managed engineering teams
- Hourly pay starting at $60/hr+ (commensurate with experience)
