Position DescriptionThe successful candidate will be a member of the Quality Assurance Group assisting with qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials for quality control, maintenance of environmental standards, and other work involving practical application of chemistry and related sciences.
Essential Functions- Maintain and clean laboratory instruments and equipment
- Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests and analyses, using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical or chemical separation techniques, or microscopy
- Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications
- Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory or plant safety audits
- Provide technical support or assistance to engineers
- Train new employees on topics such as the proper operation of laboratory equipment
- Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses
- Help develop new chemical engineering processes or production techniques
- Prepare technical reports, graphs or charts to present and support the summary of the test experiments or results
- Experience with analytical and scientific software, including magnetic and FTIR
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and industry specifications
- Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems
- Knowledge of chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical process and transformations that they undergo, including uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques and disposal methods
- Critical thinking and use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
- 5+ years’ work experience in a technical related field
- Minimum 2 years laboratory experience in materials science
- BS/BE in Chemistry or related field required
- Must be able to work on U.S. government programs and/or obtain security clearance in the future
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
