Inside the Role
As a contributing member of the DTNA Safety Team, this role plays a key part in establishing and driving a proactive safety culture that aligns with strategic operations and ensures compliance with local, state, federal, and DTNA regulations within Cleveland Truck Manufacturing Plant.Operating within a complex and dynamic environment, the Employee, Labor Health and Safety Specialist III works to energize and empower site teams, ensuring they are knowledgeable, engaged, and aligned in their pursuit of safety excellence. This role champions continuous improvement, leveraging data, collaboration, and innovation to elevate safety performance across all levels in the organization.

Position offers a starting salary range of$104,000 - $133,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA
Be an engaged and influential safety leader driving safety ownership, accountability, and alignment across all levels in the organization
Provide strategic safety guidance and partnership with site-level management and corporate Safety Team to ensure alignment with organizational goals
Serve as the subject matter expert in local, state, and federal electrical regulations, safety standards, and /codes, as well as DTNA and Daimler Truck AG safety guidelines
Communicate effectively with UAW Safety representatives and union committees, including participation in safety-related negotiations and discussions tied to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
Communicate and support onsite medical staff in Safety and Health compliance, injury prevention, trend analysis, and plant health initiatives
Participate in local and global safety audits, interactions with government agencies, and union negotiations
Collaborate with other DTNA Safety Teams to benchmark strategies and KPIs that drive continuous improvement and organizational alignment for Cleveland Manufacturing Plant
Manage multiple safety projects while working cross-functionally with key stakeholders to ensure production processes, equipment, and designs meet safety requirements and timelines
Provide clear and supportive leadership to site-level management, supervisors, and representatives, setting expectations and promoting accountability through transparency and collaboration
Build relationships within industry safety communities to share knowledge and benchmark best practices for continuous improvement
Travel required as needed
Knowledge You Should Bring
Bachelor's degree in occupational safety & health, Industrial Safety, Hygiene, or a related field
Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NOM, CSA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, and CBA standards and regulations
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a unionized environment, including participation in contract negotiations
Proven ability to work independently and make critical decisions in complex situations
Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills
Experience with systematic approaches to industrial safety, occupational health, safety management and fire prevention
Demonstrated ability to lead safety programs, manage projects, develop KPIs, and drive continuous improvement
Solid understanding of occupational health principles and workers' compensation processes
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
5 - 7 years of professional experience in occupational safety & health in a heavy manufacturing environment
Master's degree in safety & health, Industrial Safety, or a related discipline
Working knowledge of Enablon or similar EHS management systems
Experience supporting safety across multiple locations or regions
