Safety Senior Specialist – Honda Development and Manufacturing America, LLC, Haw River, NC
A Safety Senior Specialist applies their scientific and practical knowledge of the Safety compliance field in order to innovate, design, and improve systems, processes, equipment, and tools in their assigned areas to improve safety characteristics in alignment with daily operations, new model, business plan, and/or innovation to achieve or exceed targets and promote safety excellence.
Responsibilities- Lead department plant themes and complex improvement projects.
- Proactively cycle Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) to reduce injuries and hazards and ensure continuous improvement of safety characteristics of assigned areas.
- Leverage Safety expertise to support plants and department leaders, production safety advocates and/or safety committees to achieve a self‑sustaining safety culture and high level of safety performance.
- Accurately interpret and apply the Honda Safety Management manual including North America (NA) and Honda Development Manufacturing America policies and procedures.
- Participate in PDCA of policies and procedures based on technical expertise.
- Perform and document complex safety compliance activities including risk assessments, ergonomic studies, and process and equipment innovation.
- Present and report safety activities and results, including complex data analysis and trending.
- Develop personal technical expertise and professional skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, Athletic Training, Health Sciences or other safety and health program or equivalent related experience.
- 2+ years of safety experience or equivalent Honda manufacturing experience.
- Achievement of professional certification such as Advanced Safety Certificate, Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician, Certified Safety Professional, Safety Management Specialist.
- Interpersonal relationship skills.
- Detailed understanding of major health and safety regulations and injury/illness prevention strategies.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Open to mentorship guidance for personal skill growth.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills.
- Advanced data analysis and problem‑solving skills.
- Complex understanding of business plans, budgeting and cost reporting.
- Expertise with root cause analysis and implementation of countermeasures.
- Open office environment.
