Position Summary
A process engineer at Crane Resistoflex is responsible for supporting production through daily troubleshooting and root cause analysis to ensure processes are safe, meet quality and throughput requirements, and make the work easier for the operators. This requires hands‑on involvement on the shop floor. In addition to supporting operations, the engineer will design and implement tooling and/or process changes to improve manufacturing processes, own larger cost‑reduction projects from ideation through capital expenditure approval and implementation, and lead or support quality improvement initiatives per IATF 16949‑2016 to achieve the set sigma level for the value stream.
The engineer will guide the production team on issue resolution using knowledge relevant to engineering specialties.
- Design and implement improvements to production processes and controls.
- Develop improvements to manufacturing methods to improve safety, reduce cost, or increase productivity.
- Aid operations in ensuring parts are safely fabricated in accordance with product specifications.
- Analyze processes for safety, quality, and efficiency opportunities.
- Resolve quality issues, identify trends, determine root causes, and take corrective actions.
- Improve manufacturing processes to reduce variability and increase yields.
- Represent engineering as part of a cross‑functional team including safety, quality, and operations.
- Prioritize and execute projects within agreed timelines and provide status updates.
- Take ownership of projects and execute through design, fabrication, implementation, and sustainment.
- Participate in week‑long team‑based problem‑solving/continuous‑improvement events.
- Develop and manage action plans for long‑term projects through completion.
- Research and develop high‑value cost‑saving opportunities, projecting savings that justify capital expenditures.
- Participate in quality improvements per IATF 16949, completing DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and process capability studies for in‑house processes.
- Ensure requirements of relevant standards such as ISO 9001‑2015, PED 2014/68/EU, API Spec. Q1, and API 6D are consistently met and improved.
- B.S. in Engineering or a related degree.
- Strong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills.
- Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S practices.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to understand process and product specifications.
- Basic understanding of industrial assembly, fabrication, and machining processes.
- Experience working with Solid Works and AutoCAD.
