About the position

We are looking for a Materials Manager. This position will be based in Wendell, NC. Relocation assistance is available.

Wendell, North Carolina – U.S. headquarters of the EA Business Unit.

Overview of the EA Business Unit

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers a full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. It provides reliable power distribution grids today while investing in Future Grids portfolio, including electric‑vehicle charging, photovoltaic inverters, medium‑voltage power distribution equipment, and automation solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the Materials Team to balance plant needs regarding material availability and inventory requirements.
  • Partner with commodity management to develop, implement and maintain supply chain strategies that align plant needs with commodity strategies.
  • Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for Materials Management activities at the plant.
  • Manage systems and processes to support inventory forecasting, material and capacity planning, scheduling, cost control and make‑vs‑buy decisions.
  • Identify, develop and manage relationships with existing and potential suppliers to meet quality, delivery, and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality to achieve cost reduction targets.
  • Develop and implement robust material strategies that anticipate future demand fluctuations and support new product launches, ensuring continuity of supply and cost efficiency during high‑growth phases.
  • Collaborate closely with Production Planning, Engineering, and Sales to ensure material availability aligns with evolving production forecasts and customer demand during periods of significant growth.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS degree in business, management, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience managing materials and procurement.
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems.
  • Proficiency in SAP.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team.
  • Experience using data analytics and business intelligence tools with strong analytical problem‑solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Experience using tools, processes, and metrics to optimize supplier value.
  • CSCP or CPIM certification preferred.
