Engineer Technician IPosition Overview
The Engineer Technician I supports engineering teams in the execution of technical projects and the development of engineering solutions. This entry-level role combines field and office-based responsibilities, including data collection, engineering documentation, technical analysis, and construction support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in building a career within the utilities, engineering, or infrastructure industry.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide engineering support during construction activities and conduct post-construction reviews to ensure compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and regulations.
+ Coordinate with permitting agencies, right-of-way specialists, utility system owners, field personnel, and forestry teams to support project execution.
+ Review client-provided work packages, drawings, and project scopes to determine requirements and identify potential issues.
+ Conduct root cause analyses of system outages and assist in developing engineering solutions and mitigation strategies.
+ Perform site visits and field inspections to collect data, assess conditions, and verify project requirements.
+ Gather and document field information to support the development of electrical design packages and engineering deliverables.
+ Maintain, organize, and manage technical documentation, engineering records, and project data.
+ Assist with engineering calculations, technical reporting, testing activities, and prototype modifications as needed.
+ Support engineers with technical analysis and project-related tasks while adhering to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
+ Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
+ Basic understanding of engineering concepts and principles.
+ Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, CAD, GIS, or a related technical field.
+ Previous experience in utilities, electric power, infrastructure, telecommunications, or a related industry.
+
Experience with field data collection, inspections, or surveying activities.
+ Familiarity with engineering drawings, construction documents, GIS platforms, or CAD software.
Work Environment
This position requires a combination of office and field-based work. Employees will routinely travel to project sites to perform inspections, collect data, and support construction activities. Fieldwork may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and terrain. Office responsibilities include engineering design support, documentation, data analysis, and project coordination.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
