Location: Middlesex

Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Middlesex, NC facility. Relocation benefits are being offered.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 – $126,000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only.

What you’ll do
  • Design, specify, and implement Eaton electrical systems to support production equipment and manufacturing processes, including machine guarding and controls, tooling, fixtures, gauges, material handling, and process documentation.
  • Provide production associates with the tools required to perform the job in a manner that meets all requirements.
  • Standardize electrical systems throughout the Middlesex plant and implement plant grid planning to achieve cost savings and reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Define and implement equipment needs (PLC logic, component and electrical design).
  • Implement electrical safety systems to support Mesh
    8.0 “Machine & Equipment Safeguarding” roll‑out and standardize and verify safety‑related electrical design.
  • Provide engineering support for EHS projects and the Electrical Safety Program for the Middlesex plant.
  • Lead Industry
    4.0 initiatives, including roll‑outs, equipment needs for real‑time dashboards, and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Develop architecture for interconnection between machine and human, PLC logic for manufacturing data collection, and support process improvements.
  • Manage automation projects within value streams and Capex projects, establishing PLC programming standards and an error‑proofing strategy.
  • Design processes that meet internal and external quality specifications (Eaton Quality System, AS9100, NADCAP) and leverage Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Procure equipment, tooling and supplies from electrical suppliers and purchasing; collaborate with maintenance to improve predictive maintenance programs.
  • Mentor manufacturing engineering staff on competencies, processes, and lean concepts.
  • Troubleshoot and improve manufacturing processes, including fabrication, assembly, measurement and testing of products.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data and metrics to support design and improvement.
  • Assist with equipment and process sign‑off, documenting electrical run‑off criteria and equipment support documentation.
  • Use AIAG or equivalent tools for Measurement System Analysis, Capability Analysis, SPC and FMEA.
  • Support Capex projects through Pro Launch to achieve flawless launches.
  • Perform electronic development tasks—system architecture and circuit design—to ensure compliance with functional, performance, and environmental requirements.
  • Research, recommend, innovate, architect, and evaluate new electronic technologies and designs.
  • Define expectations for third‑party safety reviews.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Electrical Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship on an on‑going basis.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Position requires access to export‑controlled information; applicant must be a U.S. person (citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with EHS electrical design and standardization.
  • Experience in electronic system fault diagnostics and reporting.
  • Experience with electrical design and execution of automation projects.
  • Knowledge of Industry
    4.0 (predictive maintenance, human‑machine interface).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
