We are looking for you as an: Elektroingenieur (m/w/d)

Duties

As an electro engineer on board the Polarstern, you are responsible for the reliable operation and monitoring of the electrical and electronic systems. You ensure that all systems run smoothly, including the energy supply, measurement, control, and safety systems as well as the scientific and technical systems. Together with the leading technical officer, you plan and coordinate maintenance, repair, and service work during shipyard periods and carry out these tasks independently.

You work with modern systems and are responsible for documenting technical processes. You support safety-related processes and technical projects and create a safe, efficient, and team-oriented working environment.

Qualification
  • Completed studies (FH/University) or comparable qualification (e.g., technician, master) in the field of ship electrical engineering, electrical engineering, automation technology, mechatronics, or comparable technical field
  • Certificate of competency as an electrical officer according to STCW III/6
  • Basic safety training according to STCW VI/1
  • Proven work experience in ship engine operation as well as in energy, control, and automation technology
  • Experience with technical maintenance systems
  • Hands-on skills
  • Team capability, sense of responsibility, and resilience
  • Ability to work in a close team under extreme conditions for long periods
  • Sea service suitability
  • Good to very good German and good English skills
