Advanced Mechanical Engineer
McLeansville, NC Contract Up to $55/hour
About the Role:
Our client is seeking an Advanced Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of advanced electromechanical systems for defense applications. This role focuses on fast-paced research and development efforts involving mechanical packaging, structural and thermal analysis, and design verification while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and validate mechanical and electromechanical systems for advanced defense applications.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Perform structural, thermal, shock, and vibration analysis to support mechanical designs.
- Develop electronic and mechanical packaging solutions with a focus on design for manufacturability.
- Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Utilize CAD and engineering analysis tools to support design verification and optimization.
- Support high-pressure applications, including sealing technology development.
- Conduct prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
- Prepare engineering procedures, specifications, design packages, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure successful product development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with CAD software such as Creo.
- Experience with engineering analysis tools such as Ansys for structural, thermal, or CFD analysis.
- Experience designing small form factor, high-power electromechanical systems.
- Knowledge of high-pressure applications and sealing technologies.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
- Experience creating engineering documentation including procedures, specifications, design packages, and reports.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Clearance Requirements:
- Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
