Manufacturing Engineering Technician
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician. This position will be based in Wendell, NC.
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for manufacturing capability, continuity, and continuous improvement at the station level and within the line level. This includes improvements to production methods, work center design, fixture design, ergonomics, tooling management, connection of digital and automation devices (IT/OT), and creation of work instruction / SOP and other types of standard production process documentation.
You'll make an impact by:
- Completes manufacturing improvement projects, tasks, and installations of new devices or new equipment related to either setting up a new production line or optimizing existing lines for efficiency.
- Ensures baseline capability and reliability of machines and workstations within a production line by analyzing and seeking to optimize station design, ergonomics, material handling, tooling management, data acquisition and signaling systems, visual controls / 6S, and standard documentation.
- Communicates and cooperates with the manufacturing engineering team, the manufacturing workforce, quality control, safety management, production management, and supply chain management to devise and implement solutions which eliminate waste and increase efficiency and reliability of processes.
- Provides fast response to production teams during urgent issues / unplanned downtime / flow-blocking events.
- Assists Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers in the implementation of new line layouts, equipment installations, and other strategic measures to ensure line readiness for production ramp-up targets.
- Coordinates with external vendors to develop, estimate, quote, design, and produce desired solutions for manufacturing productivity. Iterates as needed until the solution stabilizes.
- Ensures that newly-deployed improvements are sustained and standardized by devising controlling mechanisms, documentation, checks, signals, confirmations, or other elements to be integrated into the new process.
You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Ability to measure, specify, sketch, and install mechanical assembly fixtures such as work holding devices, workstation features, and material handling devices.
- 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment
- Associates degree or higher in a technical or engineering field
- AutoCAD & 3D modeling (Solidworks or similar)
- Knowledge of mechanical principles related to assembly operations (hardware, fasteners, tools, torque)
- Conversational awareness of electronic devices for manufacturing control such as PLCs, Andon systems, switches, sensors
- Awareness of Lean manufacturing principles (8 Wastes, Value-Add, 5S, Root Cause Analysis), and industrial shop safety and ergonomics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with PLC programming
- Experience with 3D printing
- Experience with electrical assembly / wiring / electronics installation
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in an engineering field
- Experience with data analysis
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP

The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
