Location: Rocky Mount
Staking Engineer
This position performs skilled technical work in the acquisition, maintenance and analysis of Energy Resources Department data; assists with Energy Resources Department applications; designs simple utility pole relocations: assists with execution of utility pole attachment agreements. This position performs difficult skilled work in the acquisition and maintenance of geographic data.
Reports To:
The Energy Resources Engineering Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions.
Salary Range:
$27.92-$41.89 per hour (Staking Engineer I)
$30.79-$46.18 per hour (Staking Engineer II)
$33.94-$50.91 per hour (Staking Engineer III)
Staking Engineer I- Utilize and update basic data in the Energy Resources Department GIS; includes production of simple maps and drawings.
- Utilize and update basic data in the Electric Distribution System OMS and CMS Dispatch systems.
- Plan, layout and design basic utility pole replacement and relocation.
- Assist with execution of utility pole attachment agreements including evaluating and performing simple engineering analysis of proposed third party attachments to utility poles.
- Assist with configuring, updating, troubleshooting and training Energy Resources Department employees on GIS, OMS, CMS Dispatch and other software applications.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Utilize and update data in the Energy Resources department GIS; includes production of complex maps, reports, drawings, and studies.
- Utilize, update data and maintain the Electric Distribution System OMS and CMS Dispatch systems; includes production of required reports.
- Plan, layout and design basic overhead and underground electric distribution, transmission line replacement, relocation and installation.
- Evaluates application for and performs simple engineering analysis of proposed third party attachments to utility poles.
- Configures, updates, troubleshoots and trains Energy Resources department employees on GIS, OMS, CMS Dispatch and other software applications.
- Assist with vegetation management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Utilize, update data and maintain the Energy Resources department GIS; includes the production of complex maps, reports and studies; maintains interfaces with other systems.
- Utilize, update data and maintain the Electric Distribution System OMS and CMS Dispatch systems; includes production of required reports and outage analysis.
- Plan, layout and design complex overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission line replacement, relocation and installation.
- Evaluates application for and performs complex engineering analysis of proposed third party attachments to utility poles.
- Configures, updates, troubleshoots and trains Utility Department employees on GIS, OMS, CMS Dispatch and other software applications.
- Produce reliability reports for the department and data used on Ela
861, E-Tracking etc. - Assist with managing the vegetation management program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Staking Engineer I
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Staking Engineer II
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with two to three years of experience or service.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Staking Engineer III
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with five to seven years of experience or service.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
