You will collaborate with other CDE disciplines and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality design solutions that meet site needs and project milestones.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the scope, design inputs, technical evaluations, installation instructions, and testing requirements for engineering design change packages (including piping systems, pipe supports, equipment and component mounting, weak link evaluations, seismic qualifications, foundation design, etc.).
  • Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and recommend options to the project team for implementation.

  • Develop or revise design specifications or technical requirement documents to support engineering design changes.
  • Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes.
  • Develop safety screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes.

  • Ensure all work is reviewed and verified by a qualified engineer and approved by Duke management.

Qualified candidates must hold the necessary civil/structural engineering qualifications and be able to act independently as a Responsible Engineer for Duke Energy. Past experience with engineering product development for other utilities is an acceptable alternative. Applicants must obtain qualifications for a Modification Engineer and Design Verification Engineer prior to working independently. The selected individual will act as a Lead Technical and/or Responsible Engineer for assigned projects or in a support capacity for projects led by other engineering disciplines.
