Responsibilities
- Develop Civil/Structural engineering solutions in support of plant activities, both emergent and scheduled.
- Prepare and manage Engineering Change Packages.
- Conduct independent reviews of peer‑prepared engineering products.
- Identify, evaluate, and advocate for resolution of structural items to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Act as primary engineering contact with the Maintenance organization to resolve Civil issues that affect the online schedule.
- Perform lifting/rigging evaluations, safe load path analysis, and scaffold construction adequacy inspections.
- Carry out project‑management functions for emergent work by participating in Emergent Issue teams and developing repair strategies for plant equipment.
- Provide technical support for shop maintenance, resolving complex technical questions and contributing to the contents of maintenance procedures related to plant modification implementation.
- Submit Operability Determination Supporting Basis documentation to Operations for Civil equipment or structural concerns.
- Offer engineering/technical expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving routine problems of increasing scope and complexity.
- Contribute to team decision‑making through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
- Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to well‑defined problems and analysis of increasing complexity.
- Conduct engineering studies and complete routine engineering projects with minimal oversight.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- Master’s degree in Engineering may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience for Nuclear Engineer III.
- Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience for Senior Nuclear Engineer, or minimum of 5 years with state registration as a Professional Engineer.
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (desired).
- Demonstrated application of engineering theories and principles (desired).
- Proficiency in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, and presenting recommendations (desired).
- Good written and oral communication skills (desired).
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam (desired).
- Proficiency in principles of project management (desired).
- Experience in the utility industry (desired).
- Advanced application of industry codes and standards (desired).
- Capability to perform or learn ASME B31.1 and ASME Section III pipe stress analysis (desired).
- Experience with STAAD, Mathcad, GT Strudl Base Plate, or similar tools (desired).
