This Electrical Engineer position, focused on HV Protection & Automation Panel Design, is based onsite in Wendell, NC.

Your Responsibilities- Designing Electrical, Mechanical, and System Drawings of Protection and Control Panels per customer specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
- Developing logic diagrams and protection schemes based on technical drawings and detailed customer requirements.
- Preparing Factory & Site Acceptance Test (FAT & SAT) procedures for protection systems projects.
- Collaborating with a team of specialists to develop electrical systems that meet industry standards and customer needs.
- Acting as a primary customer interface, including troubleshooting and commissioning support.
- Serving as a technical leader on projects, guiding other team members in project activities.
- Providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle (design, implementation, commissioning) and occasionally assisting the sales team with scope development, estimates, and proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
- Five (5) or more years of direct experience in electrical design within the power systems protection and control engineering field, including high-voltage (HV) utilities protection and/or automation with experience leading technical engineering activities for electrical panel design projects.
- Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, and three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substation systems and experience producing technical documents for Protection and Control systems for Substations, such as Logic Diagrams, Sequences of Operations, FDS, and test procedures.
- Proven knowledge of transmission and distribution protection relays, with the capability to design, specify, and supervise designs, including Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, and other relay/automation products and associated software.
- Experience with communication network technologies (design and hardware configuration) and protocols like IEC
61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC
103, IEC
101, IEC
104, PROFINET, PROFIBUS. - Knowledge of ANSI standards relating to designing electrical panels and protection.
- Automation or Protection commissioning experience, and Factory or Site acceptance testing experience in protection and automation systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or AUCOTEC Engineering Base Software.
- Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Visio.
- Willingness and availability for approximately 5% travel, depending on project assignments.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical systems protection and automation and experience in designing Protection and Automation Panels for utilities.
- Proven understanding of UL 508A requirements and IEC standards related to electrical protection and panel design.
- Applied knowledge of Medium and High Voltage Protection, including MV protection schemes (e.g., transfer schemes, reverse interlocking), generator protection, and line differential/distance protection.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
