Location:

Employment Type:

Full-Time, Permanent

Work Arrangement:

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced VDC/BIM Manager to lead the development and implementation of virtual design and construction strategies for complex MEP construction and prefabrication projects. This role will oversee BIM/VDC operations from design coordination through fabrication and field installation, ensuring projects are thoroughly planned and constructible before work reaches the field. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with 7-10+ years of VDC/BIM or MEP construction experience, including 5+ years managing teams or VDC operations.

Strong expertise in Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, MEP coordination, and fabrication-level modeling is essential. This position will play a key role in establishing a "build it virtually first" culture, improving model quality, reducing field rework, and connecting virtual coordination directly to prefabrication and installation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the company's VDC/BIM function and establish consistent processes, standards, and workflows.
  • Drive adoption of BIM/VDC practices across project teams, field operations, fabrication, trade partners, designers, and clients.
  • Build strong working relationships across departments and resolve coordination challenges before they impact construction.
  • Promote a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Lead the virtual planning and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Establish model quality standards covering accuracy, completeness, constructability, routing, dimensions, and installation requirements.
  • Implement rigorous model review and quality-control procedures before models are released for fabrication or field installation.
  • Use coordinated models to identify and resolve clashes, sequencing issues, access concerns, and constructability risks early in the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure BIM deliverables accurately represent real-world construction conditions.
  • Oversee development of LOD 400+ fabrication-ready models for MEP systems.
  • Partner with fabrication teams to ensure models reflect actual shop capabilities, materials, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee spool drawings, assemblies, material takeoffs, and other fabrication deliverables generated from coordinated models.
  • Validate installation sequences virtually to minimize field modifications, material waste, and rework.
  • Establish effective workflows connecting design models with fabrication and field installation.
  • Recruit, lead, coach, and develop VDC professionals and project personnel.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and career-development paths for the VDC team.
  • Provide ongoing technical and leadership coaching while encouraging ownership and innovation.
  • Build a high-performing team environment based on trust, accountability, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Work closely with project and field leadership to strengthen BIM/VDC capabilities throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain BIM/VDC standards for MEP coordination, construction, and prefabrication.
  • Optimize workflows within Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and related platforms.
  • Evaluate and implement technologies such as laser scanning, point clouds, reality capture, digital twins, and other emerging VDC tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency, model accuracy, fabrication productivity, and field execution through technology and process improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in VDC, BIM, MEP construction, mechanical construction, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience within VDC/BIM, construction, engineering, or prefabrication.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction methods, installation practices, and prefabrication.
  • Demonstrated experience producing or managing LOD 400+ fabrication-level models.
  • Advanced proficiency with Revit and Navisworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Experience translating coordinated BIM models into fabrication and field-installation deliverables.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and team leadership skills.
