Reporting to the Regional Controller, the Sr. Cost Accountant will support some or all the Plant Management teams of the 8 locations as well as Regional Sales team and Regional HR Business Partners. Total revenue for the 8 plants is approximately $200MM.
The Sr. Cost Accountant will be responsible for cost accounting and financial analysis activities in the region.
Responsibilities- Understand variances to budget and prior year and identifying opportunities for cost reductions and improvements
- Implement improved mid-month reporting processes
- Analysis of month end results: P&L and Balance Sheet including variance analysis
- Complete month-end results package for the Plant to present to Senior Management
- Provide monthly financial forecasts and analysis
- Support monthly close including Balance Sheet reconciliation and accurate Revenue and Expense oversight
- Part of coordinating the annual budget process for assigned plants; collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial data, with understanding of all risks and opportunities
- Provide key decision support to manufacturing plant and support safety and operating initiatives
- Conduct regular reviews of production order variances to identify unusual variances and report root cause. Weekly P&L reviews.
- Monitor and work with plant management on Continuous Improvement initiatives and validate savings
- Ad hoc financial analysis of financial and operating metrics to support business requirement(s)
- Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with company’s procedures and policies
- Travel approximately 15% to 20%.
- BA degree in finance or accounting
- 3 to 5 years of increasing manufacturing accounting responsibility
- Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, variance analysis, and standard setting is required
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office Suite tools. ERP systems experience required; for example: SAP, Oracle, etc.
- The ideal candidate will have high energy and a positive “can do” attitude, is detailed oriented, and has a willingness to “roll up their sleeves” to get the job done.
