** Job Description*
* ** Team Overview:*
* The Strategy and Product Oversight Team (SPOT) is part of Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) and oversees GFCC's reviews of all new product initiatives across all American Express business units, markets, and product types. SPOT's goal is to ensure that all American Express products are launched, changed, and decommissioned consistent with American Express Financial Crimes policies and standards, and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial crimes risk management principles.
SPOT reports into the broader Global AML team that supports AML compliance and risk management across the enterprise.
** Role Overview:*
* This analyst assist with management of day-to-day tasks to support GFCC product reviews. The analyst will be responsible for coordinating with a wide range of stakeholders across the First Line of Defense (1
LOD) and Second Line of Defense (2
LOD) including Control Management (CM), Line of Business Compliance Officers (LOBCO), business/product development teams, and GFCC subject matter experts (SME) to support review, resolve conflict, and ensure timely approval by leadership.
Review tasks include reviewing and understanding complex business initiatives, socializing that information with diverse stakeholders, responding to and resolving questions about the initiative and GFCC requirements, identifying and finding solutions for financial crimes compliance risks and process gaps, drafting clear communications to leadership to support review and approval, and maintaining meticulous records to ensure audit and exam readiness.
The role requires a strong interest in financial crimes compliance and familiarity with the different product lines at American Express. The role also requires exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
** Responsibilities*
* + Assist with management of GFCC new product, product change, and discontinuation reviews as described in the role overview
+ Assist in reviewing new product proposals and compliance requirements to identify potential financial crimes risk.
+ Help to oversee pre- and post-launch governance activities associated with product approval
+ Drive memorialization of GFCC's assessment of the risks and impacts identified with product approvals and how they will be mitigated.
+ Track issues, mitigations, or requirements identified and follow up with stakeholders for timely resolution.
+ Manage weekly Product Approval reporting and maintain the GFCC-SPOT dashboard, including updating and tracking status of approval matters (including New Product approvals, Discontinuations, Stipulation and Action Item due dates, and approvals).
+ Organize, track, store, and maintain the team's documentation for all product reviews
+ Learn and understand various technology platforms used at American Express, especially those within GFCC, to help drive various tech-based efforts.
+ Develop and maintain strong partnerships with GFCC SMEs, CMs, LOBCOs, business stakeholders, and Operational Risk Governance Group
+ Assist in developing and enhancing guidance materials, training, and templates

* + Bachelor's degree required and an advanced degree in a related field is a plus
+ Strong communication and writing skills
+ Effective time management and organizational skills
+ Self-motivated with a sense of urgency
+ Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
+ Ability to understand and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and to prioritize accordingly
+ Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance
+ Knowledge of all aspects of the credit card industry and banking industries
+ Knowledge of product governance, risk and control management, and/or compliance risk assessment
