Anson County Government Child Support Agent II Salary Grade: 65 ($41,093 - $43,146) (Depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications and skills)

Description of Work – The Child Support Agent II provides child support services to clients whose children are receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid, Foster Home Services, or are non‑recipients in need of support services. The purpose of this position is to assure that minor children receive support from those parents who are legally responsible for providing such support.

This position assists those who are in need of child support through location, paternity, establishing orders, the enforcement of court support orders through administrative methods and collection services, and in‑depth investigation and preparation of cases for court presentation, and variables affecting a case and the independent role in presenting cases (with the attorney) in the courtroom. The position will also be responsible for Emergency Shelter Operations duties.

Essential Duties and Tasks – The duties involved include interviewing the clients, explaining the Child Support program and obtaining information regarding the absent parents and paternity; determining the need in the case as to what action is needed; locating the absent parents; establishing paternity and/or support obligations by voluntary means and through the court system. This position requires the ability to relate to a variety of individuals with differing degrees of understanding about the Child Support Program.

If the absent parent is located in another state, Child Support Agent II must prepare all URESA petitions or registration of existing court order in the other state.

Qualifications
  • four year degree and six months experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work.
  • associate's degree in business administration, human resources, law enforcement or closely related degree and two years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work.
  • graduation from high school and three years of experience in eligibility, investigative, judiciary, or legal work that provides knowledges, skills and abilities needed to perform the work.
  • an equivalent combination of education and experience.
