This position is located at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton, Burke County, NC. Foothills Correctional Institution is a close/minimum custody male facility. Reporting to the Correctional Housing Unit Manager I, this position provides supervision for subordinate officers regarding their assigned tasks with male inmates in a Minimum Custody State correctional facility.

Necessary Special Qualifications
- Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
- To be considered for a Correctional Sergeant I position, ALL applicants must:
- Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302).
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Produce a negative drug screening result.
- Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.

The salary grade for this position is NC07. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase May result.
