Job Summary

The EH&S Coordinator will support the EH&S Manager by working to create and enforce a culture of safety by assisting with the implementation of safety programs and policies in a high-volume automotive plant facility with approximately 800 employees. Also assist in maintaining environmental reporting to include EPCRA/Tier II, VOC Discharge permitting and reporting. ISO
14001 experience of implementation, maintenance and auditing. These activities include, but are not limited to, audits, corrective actions, and trend analyses to one of the assigned facilities and the ability to support the other facilities as needed and any other tasks or activities as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Overall:
    Plans and coordinates health program requiring application of engineering, mechanical, chemical, and psychological principles and technology to analyze and control conditions contributing to occupational hazards and diseases. Promotes worksite or product safety and health for the well-being of employees, customers, and the community. This is a professional level position.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Assist in maintaining site‑specific EHS policies and procedures, as well as support EH&S programs as they relate to site chemical and equipment and environmental risks. Ensure compliance with other state and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Risk Management:

    Participate in responding to regulatory inspections, agency requests, and insurers on EH&S matters. Be proactive in identifying and resolving potential hazards within the facilities and processes.
  • Communication:
    Promote site environmental, health and safety, and assist in addressing new developments for improvement.
  • Facility Safety/Environmental Management:
    Maintain required documentation and record‑keeping.
  • Workers Compensation:
    Assist in accident investigations, and partner with the operations and HR business partners to gather pertinent information, as well as address any identified safety concerns from the investigation.
  • Facility Evaluations:
    Arrange employee and supervisory training and utilize IH lab sampling equipment for noise surveys and air sampling.
  • Safety and Environmental Audits:
    Participate in site audits and review sample results in order to support management in their resolutions. Assist in promoting speedy resolutions to unacceptable findings.
  • Safety Committee:
    Facilitate safety committees in each plant and monitor their success to assure responsive action to EHS matters. Follow up on open issues identified in the meetings.
  • Training:
    Coordinate and facilitate when required training, including but not limited to the following: LOTO, confined space, press training, mobile equipment, fall protection, hearing conservation. As a part of the onboarding process, lead the new hire & contingent worker weekly safety training sessions. Assist in the scheduling and coordination of cross‑functional training, including first responder team training.
  • Safety‑Related Tracking & Reporting:
    Track and report health and safety‑related incidents to the organization. This includes but is not limited to the following: near‑misses, incident reports, recordables, and COVID reporting. As the reporting source for the business unit, provide COVID protocol / process guidance to the leadership team, sanitize work spaces, contact trace the workforce following positive cases, and implement protocols or practices to avoid production interruptions.
  • Emergency First Responder Team Participant:
    Coordinate and ensure timely completion of required training.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in Occupational Safety, Hazardous Materials Management, or other related fields of study, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in safety programs in manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and Environmental state and local regulations preferred.
  • Preferred OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certified.
  • Preferred knowledge of workers compensation regulations and requirements.
  • Preferred ISO
    14001.
  • Preferred EPCRA/Tier II.
  • Preferred VOC Discharge Permitting and Reporting.
  • Ability to assist in activities that result in a safe workplace.
  • Ability to meet minimum age requirements for employment (18 years of age).
