Position Summary
The Medical Staff Support Specialist will support the operations of ECU Health.
Responsibilities- Provide documentation to support the operations of the ECU Health.
- Primary source verification services for application elements not provided by the ECU Health CVO.
- Maintain the credentials database.
- Maintain paper files for initial appointments and reappointment for ECU Health credentialed providers.
- Provide and maintain documentation for medical staff promotions, special procedure requests, maintenance of the permanent credentials file for all practitioners, verification of maintenance of current license, DEA, and insurance for all practitioners, verification of ECU Health work history, collection of UPIN#s and communication of same.
- Provide support for ECU Health Medical Staff Office.
- Prepare meeting agendas for Credentials and Medical Executive Committees as well as the Board of Trustees.
- Updating Cactus or Echo with validated contact and privileging information.
- Troubleshooting for physicians and providing general support.
- Provide support for surveys (managed care, regulatory & Joint Commission).
- Prepare for and provide support for surveys conducted as part of the delegated credentialing contract, as well as hospital accreditation surveys by the Joint Commission.
- Maintain credentials files.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Physician Orientation.
- Maintenance of physician mailboxes.
- Maintenance of doctor provider finder.
- Provide documentation to support the operations of the Medical Staff Office.
- High School or equivalent - or higher
- 1 year to 3 years
- Hospital, medical office or managed care credentialing, Human Resource management in an office or hospital setting.
- Hybrid position (based out of Nags Head, NC)
- Predominantly onsite at The Outer Banks Hospital
- Part-time role (20 hours per week)
- Any days between Monday - Friday
- Flexible hours between 7:00 a.m.

The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.
