Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of Health Center Director, the Health Center Receptionist ensures the professional and efficient operation of the Health Center. This position requires excellent phone and people skills to include being Camper friendly, and requires exceptional organizational and computer knowledge. They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA of the Triangle.
Responsibilities- Work closely with the Camp Nurses and volunteer doctors to ensure the safety of campers and staff.
- Develop a working relationship with the health center team.
- Work with camp staff to create a total support system of health care for the campers and staff to promote wellness.
- Responsible for pulling charts during sick call (camp clinic), logging visits and filing
- Effectively communicate with parents when answering phone calls
- Utilize organizational skills in compiling all health center charges and give them to the main Camp office to charge camper accounts
- Following up with campers and staff for required return checkups and communicate with local providers to schedule off site appointments as needed.
- Responsible for faxing prescriptions to the pharmacy.
- Serves as secondary health center driver as needed (ie: taking camper to appointment, picking up prescriptions, etc)
- Accompany sick/injured campers or staff to hospital/medical appointments as needed.
- Supports health center staff during urgent care needs
- Assist in the daily upkeep of the Camp health center, cleaning and sanitizing to protect the health and safety of camping community
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED required and some college experience preferred.
- Possess strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must have an active driver’s license and successfully pass an MVR background screening.
- Ability to adapt to different environments and work on a dynamic health center team from diverse clinical backgrounds.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.
- Should be a caring individual who possesses a willingness to participate in camp and enjoy working with children of all ages.
- Must be dependable, efficient and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
