Drug and Alcohol Counselor

Overview

Exceed LLC is seeking a P/T Drug and Alcohol Counselor/TEAP Specialist who will be responsible for the design, development and coordination of the Alcohol and other Drugs of Abuse Prevention/Intervention Program at the Lyndon B Johnson Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Franklin, NC. This position is 20 hours per week and will work Tuesday and Thursday 12:30 p.m.

- 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday 8:30 a.m.

- 5:00 p.m.

• Deliver structured group instruction on substance abuse awareness, prevention, and healthy decision-making
• Integrate lessons into the Career Success Standards curriculum, ensuring students understand the impact of substance use on employability and workplace safety
• Develop and maintain lesson plans, educational materials, and workshops tailored to diverse learning needs
• Provide orientation sessions for new students on Job Corps  zero-tolerance policies and wellness resources
• Conduct individual assessments to identify students at risk for substance use issues
• Provide short-term counseling, motivational interviewing, and referrals to community resources when needed
• Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant, Wellness staff, and Residential Advisors to ensure coordinated student care
• Support students in developing coping strategies, relapse prevention skills, and personal responsibility

• Ensure compliance with the Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) regarding TEAP services (TEAP
  - Trainee Employee Assistance Program, i.e.: Drug and Alcohol Counselor)
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of student participation, progress, and referrals
• Participate in case management meetings and contribute to student success planning
• Provide staff training on recognizing and responding to substance use concerns

• Bachelor s degree in mental health or social work-related field
• Certification or license in substance abuse counseling
• Two years of experience in substance abuse counseling
• Experience working with teens and young adults
• CADC, LADC, or equivalent
