Job Description Summary

This position will assist eligible adults with case management services and assistance through payee duties. This position will have a small Guardianship caseload of clients that have been adjudicated incompetent by the court and in need of a guardian. Ongoing casework services with clients and their families to assure basic needs are being met. Employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned to meet agency needs.

Hiring Range: $54,216.00

Responsibilities and Duties
  • This position will provide in-depth casework services to the aged, disabled and handicapped found eligible based on criteria found under various funding sources at the state, local and federal level.
  • This position will provide ongoing case management to assist the client in meeting his / her individual needs and goals that have been developed. They will monitor the clients for any decline in daily living and ensure the goals are being met.
  • This employee will visit the client in their home and determine the client’s needs and assess the situation for any referrals.
  • This position will evaluate the client’s situation and help locate, coordinate and monitor services that are part of the client’s service plan. In some instances the worker will be providing representative payee duties and assuring appropriate use of income for the client’s needs and assisting the client in paying his / her bills.
  • This position will provide counseling services to the client related to their environment and any changes in situation as a result of services.
  • This position will be provided a small number of clients within this worker’s caseload whom the agency has been appointed guardian by the court. These services will include ongoing casework service with clients and families to assure the needs of the ward are being met.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems. Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment. General Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program. Skills in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial, behavioral and psychological aspects of client’s problems.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of caseload and their families, and with community, medical, social and religious organizations. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and plan to execute work.

Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work;
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and one year directly related experience;
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience.

Work Environment/Location/Physical Demands

The caseworker’s physical work location will be at 311 W. Cornelius Harnett Boulevard, Lillington NC. Work space will be provided with regular office equipment such as a copy machine, calculator, computer, and other supplies. The physical effort required in this job is the same that is required in any office job. This caseworker will use close visual attention and mental concentration with talking with clients/applicants and accurately recording the information received.

Regular work hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday and one hour for lunch. Worker will be expected to make home visits and will work closely with community agencies, Medical Providers, client’s family members and court personnel. Employees are subject to working with agitated clients, heavy workloads, and compressed time frames. Clients may at times become agitated, verbally abusive due to the extreme situations or their emotional problems, but generally physical harm is unlikely on an ongoing basis.
