Central Sterile Technician

Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, NC seeks a detail-oriented Central Sterile Technician to clean, decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize instruments and equipment for surgical and clinical areas. Responsibilities include operating sterilizers, maintaining accurate records, monitoring inventory, and ensuring adherence to infection prevention and safety standards. Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize surgical and clinical instruments and equipment
• Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment according to manufacturer and hospital guidelines
• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and integrity; report and remove damaged items
• Assemble and wrap instrument trays and sets based on standardized lists and procedures
• Maintain accurate logs, load records, and biological/chemical indicator documentation
• Manage inventory of sterile supplies and instruments, rotating stock and preventing shortages
• Transport sterile and soiled instruments and carts safely between departments
• Follow infection prevention, safety, and PPE protocols at all times
• Collaborate with surgical, nursing, and materials management staff to meet procedure needs
• Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives in sterile processing
