The Columbus County Health Department is seeking a Nutritionist II to provide professional nutrition services and education within the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program and other public health programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interviewing and assessing the nutritional status of pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children.
- Providing nutrition education and counseling to eligible participants.
- Certifying individuals for WIC benefits and documenting all services in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Determining program eligibility and prescribing appropriate WIC food packages.
- Performing nutrition assessments for certification and follow-up appointments.
- Developing and maintaining individualized nutrition care plans using the Nutrition Care Process in Crossroads and/or EMR systems.
- Participating in community presentations, outreach, and program support activities as needed.
- Completing required off-site training to maintain certification and program compliance.
This position may include supplementary duties, such as supervisory responsibilities or community presentation assignments, as designated by management.
Minimum Training and Experience- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or Dietetics and one year of nutrition experience; or
- Completion of an ADA-approved Dietetic Internship with Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) eligibility preferred; or
- Master’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition with CDR eligibility preferred; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
