Banquet Server
Provide exceptional food and beverage service for banquet and catered events at The Sanderling Resort, ensuring professional execution, guest satisfaction, and adherence to EOS Hospitality and resort standards.
The Sanderling Resort, located in Duck, North Carolina, is the premier oceanfront destination in the Outer Banks, offering refined coastal hospitality, elevated culinary programming, and memorable guest experiences.
The resort's banquet and catering program includes weddings, corporate events, social gatherings, and seasonal programming across multiple venues including the Sunset Ballroom, Great Hall, Event House, and outdoor event spaces.
The Banquet Server plays a critical role in delivering seamless event experiences by executing service standards, supporting event setup and breakdown and providing attentive and professional guest service.
Provide professional, courteous, and attentive service to guests during banquet and catered events
Set up banquet spaces according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and service stations
Assist in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and readiness of event spaces throughout service
Serve food and beverages in accordance with banquet service standards, including plated meals, buffets, and passed items
Ensure proper timing and coordination of courses in collaboration with Banquet Captain and Culinary team
Monitor guest needs throughout events, including beverage refills, clearing, and additional requests
Assist with bar service when needed, including passing beverages or supporting bartenders
Ensure responsible alcohol service in compliance with all regulations and company policies
Clear tables, reset areas, and maintain cleanliness during and after events
Assist in breakdown of banquet spaces, including removal of linens, breakdown of tables and chairs, and proper storage of equipment
Follow all side work and task assignments to ensure efficient event execution
Work collaboratively with banquet team members, culinary staff, and leadership to ensure seamless service
Communicate effectively with team members regarding service timing and guest needs
Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to leadership when appropriate
Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude
Ensure compliance with all safety standards including food safety, sanitation practices, and workplace policies
Attend required meetings and training sessions
Comply with all policies outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, and company guidelines
Ability to stand and remain active for up to 10–12 hours
Ability to lift and carry up to 40–50 lbs, including tables, chairs, and service equipment
Ability to move quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced event environment
Ability to set up and break down banquet equipment
Ability to navigate stairs and multiple event spaces across the resort
Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Point of Sale System (when applicable)
Service Equipment (Coffee/Tea Machines, Soda Fountains, Toasters, Refrigeration, etc.)
Banquet Equipment (chafers, trays, heat lamps, service ware, etc.)
Serving Trays and Beverage Carriers
Phone and Communication Devices
Basic Cleaning Tools and Supplies
Work will take place across multiple indoor and outdoor event spaces within a resort setting
Fast-paced environment with varying event sizes and service styles
Frequent setup and breakdown of event spaces
Exposure to outdoor elements, kitchen environments, and event equipment
Team-oriented environment with direct guest interaction
Prior banquet or restaurant experience preferred but not required.
Strong guest service and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Ability to follow direction and execute detailed service standards.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Positive attitude and professional appearance.
Ability to lift and perform physical duties required for event setup and breakdown.
Knowledge of food and beverage service and responsible alcohol service practices preferred.
Successful completion of satisfactory background check.
Available and willing to work flexible hours based on business needs.
