Job DescriptionMust have an Associate’s degree and related work experience. Salary is dependent upon skills and experience. This is a part-time position with part-time benefits (approximately 24 hours). Please apply online by Sunday, June 21, 2026.
PurposeTo provide support and promote the advancement of all technology within Yancey County Schools.
Responsibilities- Assist with the installation of hardware, software, and related peripherals.
- Ensure the maintenance of all computers, software, and local area networks by monitoring performance.
- Troubleshoot Chromebook, tablet, laptop, and desktop issues.
- Perform routine imaging of devices and make necessary upgrades to hardware and software.
- Maintain accurate inventory and use the ticketing system to track routine repair and maintenance of equipment.
- Refer complex problems to higher level technical support.
- Assist with network cable installation and termination.
- Support educational software used by the district including Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Adobe CC, and Classlink.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Technology Director.
- Graduation from a two-year college or technical school with related coursework and one-year experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Degree in a technology related field and eighteen months experience in a K-12 educational environment preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
- Be accessible after hours in the event of a network outage or scheduled event.
- General or strong knowledge of computers and related technology devices.
- General knowledge of electronic devices and local area networks.
- Understanding of mechanical, electronics, and computer principles as applied to the repair and maintenance of computers and peripherals.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
