About the Role
Person County Government is seeking a skilled and dedicated Foreign Language Interpreter II (Spanish) to join the team at the Person County Health Department. This position plays a vital role in ensuring equitable access to public health services by providing accurate, culturally responsive interpretation and translation for Spanish‑speaking clients.
The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
This is a non‑exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly / 1950 hours annually.
Essential FunctionsThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Interpreter/Translator - 70%
- Clerical - 25%
- Other - 5%
- Graduation from high school or GED, and two years of experience in interpreting and translating English and the required language in a setting that requires a knowledge of the programs or services. Demonstrates fluency and the skills necessary to meet the needs of the organization and client population services;
- or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Completion of Interpreter training levels 1, 2, and 3.
