• Primary Purpose of Organization Unit: The Facilities Management unit delivers required services, financial oversight, and liaison with agencies regarding campus facilities. It strives to maintain a safe, clean, accessible, and attractive environment to support academic and administrative programs.
• Primary Purpose of Position: Provide irrigation system management for campus roadway medians and athletic fields, assist in implementing turf care programs, perform soil testing and irrigation strategies, and support new construction and maintenance projects under close review by the Grounds Manager.

Job Description

• Care and maintenance of campus irrigation systems, including deep well systems, pumps, motors, time clocks, and valve controls.
• Troubleshoot and repair simple to moderately complex system issues.
• Inventory existing systems, report inventory needs, and maintain accurate as‑built drawings.
• Assist in irrigation system reviews, project scopes, and the installation of new systems.
• Locate system heads and piping for utility projects; work under close supervision.
• Lead system startup for the growing season and winterization of systems.
• Ensure system operation aligns with campus event schedules, coordinating with Grounds Manager.
• Operate heavy equipment and deliver large quantities of grounds‑related supplies.
• Use mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, sprayers, and spreaders to maintain campus appearance and perform trash‑police duties.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the direct supervisor and Facilities Management leadership.
• Occupy mandatory personnel status during adverse weather or emergency events.

Management Preference

Five to seven years of directly related experience.

Licenses or Certifications Required by Statute or Regulation

• Valid Driver's License
• NC Pesticide License
