This position is located at Avery/ Mitchell Correctional Institution in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. This is a medium custody male facility. This position reports to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV and is responsible for technical guidance and supervision to grounds crew. This is a skilled supervisory work in the upkeep of lawns and grounds surrounding state institutions or buildings.
ResponsibilitiesPreferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the horticultural practices and techniques applicable to the layout and upkeep of formal gardens and grounds.
- Knowledge of ornamental shrubs, plants, and flowers and their uses in landscape work.
- Documented experience to adjust and make minor mechanical repairs to equipment such as tractors, mowers, disks, and rakes.
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of progressive experience in grounds upkeep; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
