Admissions Director (MUST HAVE SNF/LTC Experience)
Full-Time | Exempt | Department Head
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Admissions Director to lead the facility’s admissions and census development efforts. This role is responsible for overseeing all admissions operations, building referral relationships, ensuring regulatory and financial appropriateness of admissions, and supporting sustained census growth. This position is ideal for a strong communicator who understands long-term care admissions, payer sources, and the importance of both compliance and relationship-building.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and direct all admissions department operations
- Develop and implement strategies to support census growth and occupancy goals
- Oversee the admissions process to ensure medical and financial appropriateness of all admissions
- Maintain strong relationships with hospitals, discharge planners, referral sources, and community partners
- Ensure all admissions documentation and contracts are completed accurately and timely
- Collaborate with Nursing, Business Office, and Social Services to support smooth admissions and transitions
- Monitor payer sources, insurance verification, and financial viability of potential admissions
- Oversee facility tours and participate in marketing and outreach activities
- Track admissions data, referrals, conversions, and census trends
- Participate in facility surveys, audits, and plan-of-correction development
- Supervise, train, and evaluate admissions staff as assigned
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility policies and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior admissions, marketing, or census development experience in long-term care required
- Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and payer sources
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Professional, organized, and results-oriented
- Office and facility-based work throughout the day
- Travel to referral sources, hospitals, and community partners as needed
- Standing, walking, and touring the facility regularly
