The Maintenance Worker position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

• Assists in the installation of new equipment.
• Assists the Maintenance Supervisor and/or other personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Follows preventative maintenance schedule.
• Trains Level 1 and 2 Maintenance personnel.
• Troubleshoots and repairs process machinery and hydraulic equipment.
• Changes electrical breakers and electrical starters; operates voltage, amp, and ohm meters.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Represents safety by using assigned equipment and observing all company safety rules and regulations.
• Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 6 years' experience with rendering or other similar equipment.
• Advanced welding, piping and fabrication skills a must.

• Vocational school training preferred.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operations.
• General mechanical aptitude; able to diagnose problems with motors and other equipment.
• Good math skills; add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Must pass skills test on 480V combination starter/breaker box and control voltage for combination box.
• Demonstrated advance welding skills.

• Occasionally (up to 20%) exposure to high noise level, strong odors, heat and cold.
• Frequently (21% to 50%) exposure to biohazardous conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical hazards, and potentially dangerous equipment.
• Constantly (at least 51%) travel to off‑site locations.
• Prolonged standing and walking required.
• Manual handling up to 100 pounds (occasionally) and up to 50 pounds (frequently).
• Requires vision to read and operate equipment; color vision and depth perception needed.
