Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: 2nd Shift – Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Training Requirement: All candidates selected for 2nd shift must first train on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, before moving to 2nd shift.

We are currently seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our 2nd shift production team at our 15 National Ave location in Fletcher, NC. This role is responsible for operating production machinery, inspecting parts, following work instructions, and supporting daily production goals while maintaining Microtech’s high standards for safety, quality, and precision.

Position Summary

The Machine Operator will operate and monitor manufacturing equipment to produce parts according to specifications. This position requires attention to detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to follow established processes. Candidates must be willing and able to train on 1st shift before transitioning to the 2nd shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Operate assigned machinery safely and efficiently according to work instructions and production standards.

Load and unload materials, parts, or components into machinery.

Monitor machine operation and report any issues, malfunctions, or quality concerns to the supervisor.

Inspect finished parts using basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other inspection equipment.

Follow production schedules, travelers, work orders, and standard operating procedures.

Maintain quality standards by checking parts throughout the production process.

Perform basic machine checks and routine cleaning of equipment and work area.

Accurately complete required production documentation.

Communicate with supervisors, leads, and team members regarding production flow, quality concerns, or machine issues.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.

Support team goals and production output as needed.

Required Qualifications

Previous machine operation, manufacturing, or production experience preferred.

Ability to train on 1st shift before transitioning to 2nd shift.

Ability to work the full 2nd shift schedule: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Basic math skills and ability to read measurements.

Ability to use or learn to use calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools.

Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.

Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry materials as required by the position.

Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

1+ year of machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience working with CNC machinery, mills, lathes, grinders, or similar production equipment.

Experience using precision measurement tools.

Knowledge of knife, cutlery, sporting goods, or precision manufacturing is a plus.

Ability to read basic blueprints, travelers, or work instructions.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout the shift.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.

Ability to use hands and fingers to handle parts, tools, and materials.

Ability to work around machinery, noise, oils, coolants, and production equipment.

Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
