Industrial Controls and PLC Technician

Core duties

Install, service, and repair electrical systems for automated packaging machines, conveyors, labeling equipment, and robotic arms.

Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, motor controls, sensors, relays, and drives (VFDs/servos) to quickly restore operation.

Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and OEM manuals to execute precise repairs and upgrades.

Execute preventive maintenance plans that minimize downtime and enhance equipment safety and reliability.

Collaborate with maintenance and production to resolve issues efficiently and prevent recurrences.

Program/modify PLCs—Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and similar platforms—to support process improvements and equipment changes.

Record all maintenance activities, repairs, and installations with clear, accurate documentation.

Comply with lockout/tagout and OSHA standards; model safe work practices.

Support training of maintenance staff in electrical troubleshooting techniques and best practices.

Qualifications High school diploma or GED; technical certificate or associate degree in electrical technology preferred.

Minimum 3 years as an industrial electrician in a manufacturing or packaging setting.

Strong command of industrial power and automation: 480V 3-phase, control panels, and integrated control systems.

Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and safety circuits.

Competent with diagnostic tools: multimeters, megohmmeters, oscilloscopes.
