Arclin has an opening for a full‑time Wood Applications Technologist. This is an on‑site position at our Moncure, NC plant.

About the PositionReporting to the Product Development Manager in the Research and Technology (R&T) department, you will support the commercialization of innovative chemistry‑based products (resins) to strengthen Arclin’s product development strategy. You will provide product expertise to R&T and Sales, following company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Support the Wood‑Based Composites team in accomplishing goals
- Conduct lab experiments and testing of new or modified products according to industry standard using proper statistical tools and established Arclin procedures
- Write technical reports, documenting test results, and maintain thorough and accurate written records of all lab activities and results
- Drive cross‑functionality between different departments to execute product scale‑up and trials
- Develop trial plans with customers and support Business team on trials
- Maintain clean and safe environment in compliance with all HSE regulations and lab standards
- Operate in a variable environment:
Wood shop, office, product development laboratory, applications laboratory, Arclin chemical manufacturing sites, Customer trials - Work independently and on a team
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Wood Science or a closely related degree from a technical school or college
- 2‑3 years of experience in an industrial laboratory environment; a Master’s degree will substitute for two (2) years of experience
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedural routines consistently
- Skilled with lab instruments, testing equipment, and computers to conduct experiments
- Ability to analyze results to draw conclusions and present findings
- Ability to work efficiently and communicate clearly in a cross‑functional team
- Proficiency in the use of computer software (MS Office, statistical analysis, etc.)
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work with hazardous materials and safely operate powered woodworking equipment while following Arclin health, safety and environmental regulations
- Ability to construct schedule and goals to effectively execute on projects and tasks
- Basic understanding of engineering processes used in resin production
- Knowledge of particle board, MDF, and plywood manufacturing processes
